Choosing Interior Paint Colors

Deciding on how to decorate with wall colors is so much fun…but with so many options, how do you choose?! It can be exciting yet overwhelming to come to a decision, so we’d like to help and give you some tips.

Color appeal and emotion
You may often walk into a room and feel a certain way whether it makes you feel tranquil, energized, or just overall happy! This usually stems from the color on the walls. Choosing a wall color will reflect the feel you want your room to give or maybe your personality. For example, if you want your bedroom to be a place of relaxation, a good color option could be Sherwin-Williams’ Balanced Beige. If you’re looking for a more lively tone for something like an arts and crafts room, Cloudburst would be a great choice. Lighting
Choosing color from a color swatch is one thing…however, you would be amazed by how much lighting (whether it be natural or artificial) can change how it looks on your walls. It’s important to take these factors into consideration: natural daylight shows the truest color, incandescent lighting brings out warm tones and yellows, and fluorescent lighting casts a sharp blue tone. It never hurts to do a test patch on your wall to make sure it is exactly what you’d like. It’s also important to consider lack of windows in a room and how choosing a darker color will make the room appear a bit smaller as opposed to a brighter color.

Transitioning
When walking throughout your home, it’s a lot more appealing when the colors are fluent. Too much change from room to room can be overwhelming. Of course, we wouldn’t want to tell you to limit your colors! So if more colors is what you desire, maybe consider the drastic color changes for rooms that are not as visibleĀ from the main areas of your home.
